A lot of children like ketchup but shop bought varieties are high in sugar. My recipe is so easy to make, it contains just 13g sugar per 100g compared to standard ketchup which contains 24g sugar per 100g.
This ketchup will keep in the fridge in a sealed container for 2 weeks, or store in the freezer in ice cube trays indefinitely!
400g tin of chopped tomatoes
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon tomato puree
2 teaspoons caster sugar
- Add all ingredients to a pan and bring to the boil
- Reduce heat and cook on a slow simmer till it has reduced by half.
- Allow to cool a little then puree with a hand blender
- Serve when completely cool.
